This is Bacon the dog. He lives in Atlanta, and he would like a new home. I am reposting what onceupon wrote about him:

This is Bacon. Bacon has lived with his people for many years and has grown up into a well-behaved, mellow dog. But his people’s lives have changed a great deal (and rather suddenly) and, unfortunately, Bacon needs a new home.

Bacon is ten years old. He’s the kind of dog, because he’s older and he’s big, that would never come back out of a shelter. People prefer puppies – but all Bacon prefers is a home where he can laze around and play sometimes. He’s good with kids and with other dogs (he has had, as long-time companions, two pugs who ruled the roost, in fact).

Over the years, on LJ, I have watched people pull together in amazing efforts to take care of animals who need help. Bacon isn’t my dog, but I’ve met him, petted him, and I want him to be happy; he’s a sweet and loving dog and it’s kind of killing me that he’s in this precarious situation. So I’m asking for your help.

Ideally, we’d find someone in the Atlanta, GA area who wants a slightly older canine companion. Bacon is part German Pointer, part Retriever, and part many several other things. He weighs in at 100 pounds. He’s current on all shots but is coming up on needing his yearly, which his current owner is willing to help with. He’s got a clean bill of health and, as is one of the awesome things about older dogs, he’s a great indoor dog. He likes to play and do active things if that’s what you want to do. If someone close to Atlanta was willing and interested, I’m willing to help relocate him, as long as we can do it on a weekend.

Please, help me find this dog a new forever home. I’d deeply appreciate it if you’d repost this.
