the gas man cometh (for real)
We moved in last night. Hurrah!
The gas man is here to test the gas before it gets turned on. So he turned on the gas-tap, causing loud hissing and a gas stench. The builders who put in the new cupboards, earlier this week, have breached the cap that was put on the main when the old hob was removed.
He says the cupboards are sealed to the wall. He could tear them out but it would be better for the builders to come back and do it. I told him I wasn't going to ask him to tear out all the skirting-boards.
The builders are en route. The gas man is coming back this afternoon.
