One of the reasons I ralley like your writing is that it never feels, to me, as though "MISFORTUNE SUDDENLY HAPPENS!" or at least, not very often.There's a feeling like stuff is happening "off-screen". It probably helps that the "screen" is so narrow(first-person perspective), but that doesn't lessen the effect of a thriving, organic world that the protagonist just happens to be a part of; it accentuates it. When misfortune happens, it doesn't feel cheap. It doesn't feel like it is happening for the sake of the story. It feels like it is happening and it is a story worth sharing.
